Mathematica Site License Yale has a University wide licensing arrangement for Mathematica software from Wolfram Research, Inc. for UNIX/Linux, MacOSX, and MS-Windows computers. We believe this program offers members of the Yale community the best possible prices with the fewest restrictions for an annual fee. TermsYale University has agreed to certain restrictions in its license agreement for Mathematica. The most important summarized points are:
Licenses are available in THREE (3) categories: Public Student Cluster, Department/Group, and Individual Faculty & Staff. All licenses are on a "per machine installed" basis, with no regard to number of CPUs, operating system installed or concurrent usage. Please consult the Wolfram Mathematica Requirements Page for complete information on system requirements.
Enrollment Enrollment is annual (for 365 days after date of installation). No part-year enrollments accepted, no transfers between machines. Changes have been made to quicken the enrollment process. Please fill out the on-line enrollment form. When your enrollment has been processed, you will receive a confirmation via email. You will need to provide your computer's hostname at time of enrollment. License FilesThe default installation is for use with the network license servers. Disconnected users (laptops) will be given standalone license files. Standalone licenses are not available for Departmental or Cluster enrollments because of the increased administrative overhead. For more information see: Obtaining a License VersionThe current Mathematica version is 5.2.2. Users will be eligible for updates as they become available. Mathematica versions prior to 4.0.2 are discontinued and no longer supported. InstallationThe primary method to obtain Mathematica is over the campus network. Select your platform link below for information about obtaining media and connecting to the license servers. Technical Help Users in the Faculty of Engineering (Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering) should consult the Engineering IT office (432-4321) with Mathematica issues. Consultants and online documentation are available within Social Science Research Services (SSRS) at the Social Science Statistical Laboratory (StatLab).
Many books about Mathematica are available at better bookstores everywhere. (Try the Yale Bookstore). Consult Wolfram's library of information about Mathematica. |
