Installing Mathematica on MAC OSX

Enrollment

Enrollment is annual (for 365 days after date of installation). No part-year enrollments accepted, no transfers between machines.

Changes have been made to quicken the enrollment process. Please fill out the on-line enrollment form. When your enrollment has been processed, you will receive a confirmation via email.

You will need to provide your computer's hostname at time of enrollment.

The Mac OS X distribution of the mathematica software is available on the campus network via samba. From the Finder menu, select Go and then "Connect to Server". Type: smb://babs.its.yale.edu and then click on "connect". You need the following information:

Select

Workgroup or Domain YALE
Name Your Yale NetID
Password Your Yale NetID password
Volume Mathematica6

Open up the mma6.0 folder. Double-click on the Mathematica_L_6.0.0OSX.dmg .

To start the install, drag the Mathematica.app to your desktop. You will see a window asking for your to "personalize your copy of Mathematica." The license number you need to enter is: L2976-7169.

Stand-alone licenses are available if needed for faculty laptop and home users. Students are not eligible for standalone licenses. If you have a laptop, then select"Single Machine". A window will appear giving you a "MathID". Please forward this number to WSS. A password will be requested for your installation and then sent to you quickly and you will be able to continue the installation.

Most users will choose the option to use a Network license. If you do, you need to provide the installation with the ip number of the license manager. Please use: 128.36.236.21. After the installation is done, you need to replace this mathpass file with the mathpass file found here:

ftp://ftp.wss.yale.edu/pub/licensed/mathpass

Select your installation options depending on how much disk space you have available.
