Yale has a University wide licensing arrangement for Matlab software from Mathworks for UNIX/Linux, Mac OSX and MS-Windows computers. We believe this program offers members of the Yale community the best prices for the most commonly requested software with the fewest restrictions for an annual fee.

MATLAB packages are available at two levels, basic and standard.

Users may also add additional toolboxes or options from Yale. The following toolboxes are available separately for an additional annual charge:

Other toolboxes are available direct from the The Mathworks, Inc. Please note: additional license files may not work with our site license file. If you need a toolbox not listed above, you may need to purchase your copy of Matlab (and toolboxes) direct from Mathworks.

Network and Laptops: In order to achieve the best possible price, the Yale Matlab package requires that computers be connected to the campus network to contact our license servers. We are not able to offer any disconnected licenses for users. We apologize for this inconvenience and wished the vendor were more flexible, but they are not. Please contact the Mathworks directly to obtain a single standalone license.

Current Release: MATLAB R2007a(7.4) is the latest release. Users are cautioned that version 7.2 or newer writes character and figure data to MAT-files using Unicode encoding by default.

Unicode encoded MAT-files are not readable by earlier versions of MATLAB. Thus, if you save data to a MAT-file using MATLAB 7.2 or newer, and you intend to load this MAT-file into an earlier release of MATLAB, you must override the Unicode default during the save.

Previous releases can still be used. Please send e-mail to WSS if you need access to a Matlab release previous to R13. The license terms and enrollment fees for MATLAB are the same regardless of version; there are no additional charges for upgrades.

Enrollment

Enrollment is annual (for 365 days after date of installation). No part-year enrollments accepted, no transfers between machines.

Changes have been made to quicken the enrollment process. Please fill out the on-line enrollment form. When your enrollment has been processed, you will receive a confirmation via email.

You will need to provide your computer's hostname at time of enrollment.
